A new coffee shop has opened in Jeffries Passage and guess what – vegan options!
I walked past Surrey Hills Coffee once or twice and thought it looked lovely – very clean and modern, but once I saw that they had vegan options, boom, I was there!
A vegan burger using Pulled Oumph! with homemade coleslaw and Sriracha mayo – ooft…heavenly! I went in and grabbed this to go on my lunch break and it was fabulous. I am a massive fan of Oumph!, so to see it being used in a store made me very happy. There were so many flavours packed into one delicious roll, I will definitely be having this again!
Surrey Hills Coffee also have Oatly for their coffee’s (the best!) and a selection of vegan sweet treats.
Deciding on which sweet treat to go for was such a struggle – There was so much to choose from! The member of staff working that day was so friendly and helpful, pointing out which ones are vegan with no judgement at all which I loved! The day I went in there were Beetroot Chocolate Cupcakes with Cacao, Chocolate Black Bean Brownies with Dark Chocolate, Carrot Cake with a Cashew Frosting and Energy Balls. It was also noted clearly which ones contained allergens such as gluten.
After much deliberation I went for the Black Bean Brownie which was gorgeous. I’ve made black bean brownies in the past and not thought much of them, but this was amazing. Perfectly squidy, full of chocolatey flavour and you wouldn’t even know it had black beans in it!
I didn’t try their coffee’s on this occasion but the selection looked and sounded amazing, so will be back soon for a cup or two!
They also sell Cao which is a locally produced product and it is just fabulous. Mint is definitely my favourite, especially for scoffing straight from the jar! They use it for Chocolate Spread on Toast with Banana too – Yum!
Surrey Hills Coffee have said they’re going to be adding more vegan options as time goes on which is super exciting – I’m looking forward to seeing where this brand goes with their food ideas because they’ve clearly had some great ones so far.
