Cosy Club, Guildford Review | Eating Out Vegan

Snazzy tables, a great vibe and a varied choice of food and bevvys, what more could you need? Cosy Club is an excellent new addition to Guildford, especially for vegans!

When invited to review Cosy Club, I was so excited. I’ve previously been to The Lounges, both Caballo and Nautico and am a massive fan of their buzzy atmosphere and great menu, so I knew Cosy Club (which is part of the same company) would be equally as fabulous.

The new Tunsgate Quarter is stunning inside, it’s so shiny and new! It’s pristineness slightly reminds me of Disney Land – I love it!

When walking into Cosy Club, the vibe was great. Warm lighting accompanied by laughter and chatter with various art works scattered across the walls, crazy wall paper and old style lights – I was in heaven!

The restaurant itself was actually quite large but still managed to feel intimate due to the warm lighting and the tables being spaced well apart. We were sat by the window which was lovely, a view of the High Street where we could see many people strolling past and then looking up, obviously intrigued by the buzz.

Our waitress was so friendly, always checking if we had enough to drink and how the food was which was a great touch. There were separate menus for gluten intolerant individuals and vegans which were offered before being taken to our table which was very helpful, so all around excellent service!

To start, we chose some nibbles to try. The olives were so juicy and flavoursome with chilli on top which gave a great kick! We also shared one of the tapas options – The Heirloom Tomato & Sun Blushed Tomato Tapenade on sourdough toast with a balsamic glaze. The tomatoes were fresh and the balsamic on the bread was so rich and delicious. Sometimes I find starters to be too filling but this was just enough to nibble on!

The cocktail menu looked great, so obviously I had to try one of them. I went for the Rhubarb & Ginger Bramble which was phenomenal. Super sweet, so right up my street! Nice and strong too – Yum yum!

For my main I had the Aubergine Tagine – Smoked aubergine, slow-cooked with spiced tomato and onion served with coconut & coriander rice, edamame beans, black quinoa and turmeric cauliflower rice.

The aubergine itself was so flavoursome and spicy, topped with chopped chilli’s and spring onions which added extra flavour and crunch – Perfection! I loved the rice, cauliflower rice and edamame too, not only was this full of goodness, the flavour and textures were amazing!

After stuffing our faces, I wanted pudding. The vegan option of Chocolate & Orange Torte with raspberry sauce sounded gorgeous, but I just couldn’t fit it in! Instead, another cocktail (same again!) and my boyfriend had an espresso which he said was great. The branded sugar cube was a great touch too!

Overall, I will definitely be returning to Cosy Club and highly recommend trying it out. I can’t wait to go back and feast on the whole vegan menu and try out all the cocktails too!
