Jelly was always one of those things I loved in the pre-vegan days and if I’m honest, when I was younger I was unaware what it was made of. It held fond memories of jelly and ice cream at birthday parties when I was a kid (just a British thing?!), so when finding out it contains gelatine and what exactly that is, I started phasing it out.
When going vegan at the beginning of 2017 I hadn’t even thought about jelly until I saw Veggi Jelli all over Twitter. Veggi Jelli was established in 2017 when the founder also went vegan and couldn’t find any vegan jelly alternatives out there, so decided to produce some himself. I was lucky enough to win a competition by Veggi Jelli on Twitter to try out their new flavour, apple. They also kindly sent me their mango and cherry flavours to try too.

When following the instructions on the packet, it was so simple and quick to make up this jelly. The granules dissolved easily and the jelly set very well. All types had super smooth textures and I couldn’t believe how similar to non vegan jelly this product was.
The apple had a slightly sour twang which I loved and the aftertaste was great.
The mango had an amazing smell and I absolutely loved the colour of this one – So bright! This had more of a subtle taste but was delicious all the same.
The cherry was a beautiful, rich red colour with a very fragrant taste. I think this one is my favourite and would work SO well for vodka jelly shots, which of course I will be trying out soon – Yum!

Overall, this product was great and I really couldn’t believe how similar it was to non-vegan jelly. I can’t wait to have more with ice cream, for vodka shots and not forgetting, in a trifle!
Have you tried any products by Veggi Jelli? If so, let me know what your favourite flavour is!
So many donβt know about the origins of gelatin! These flavors sound so yummy and are absolutely essential for those jelly shotsπβπ»!

Love it! Iβve been wanting to try these out myself actually. I have a young niece and nephew so things like this appeal to me as I like to show them I can have all the treats and things they have. The cherry sounds amazing, I canβt wait to try it!
