Review: The Plantifull Food Co. Creamy Mac

Launched just over a week ago, The Plantifull Food Co. are a plant-based ready meal company, providing healthy and delicious meals in a convenient way. I first heard about Plantifull through Food for Thought in Guildford and was super excited to see a microwave vegan mac and cheese hitting the shelves.

Why Plantifull?

Along with a cute name, Plantifull are only full of the good stuff with nothing artificial added. Becca and Adam saw that there were hardly any ready meals for vegans to pick up on the go, so came up with this delicious range of meals. I completely agree with this, Wicked Kitchen’s range at Tesco has been a step in the right direction so I am glad to see another brand getting on board.

Plantifull Range

The Range

I managed to pick up the Creamy Mac and the Gluten Free Creamy Mac which were flying off the shelves. Plantifull are also selling a Three-Bean Chilli with Brown Rice and ‘Shroomy Risotto with Onions and Herbs, both of which look SO yummy! At £2.79 per pot from Food for Thought (usually £3.79), I thought these were an absolute steal!

Creamy Mac with Spinach and Tomatoes

The first one I tried…. I fell in love! I am a massive fan of mac and cheese and since going vegan I’ve been keen to try out all the different types (cashew based, sweet potato based, etc.). This one was great, I’m so pleased that now I can get a microwave mac for when I’m wanting a treat at work. It was wholesome, creamy and tasted real, as if it had just been cooked. I loved the flavour and the cherry tomato halves and pieces of spinach worked so well.

Ingredients: Soya drink (Water, Soya beans), Durum wheat semolina, Tomatoes, Sweet potato, Potato, Nutritional yeast, Vegan cheese alternative (Water, Coconut oil, Starch, Modified starch, Sea salt, Natural flavourings, Olive extract, Colour: B-Carotene, Vitamin B12), Spinach, Miso (Water, Soya beans, Rice, Salt), Mustard, Lemon juice, Garlic powder, Cornflour, Rapeseed oil, Vegetable stock powder (Salt, Sugar, Yeast extracts, Dried vegetables: Onion, Leek, Carrot, Sunflower oil, Ground turmeric, Black pepper, Parsley), Black pepper, Nutmeg, Salt, Paprika, Chilli powder.

Gluten-Free Creamy Mac with Green Peas

Somehow this one tasted more cheesy to me and I could taste the chilli more too. I loved the peas in this, I always add them when making my own mac & cheese. The pasta was slightly harder than the other Creamy Mac (I’m guessing because it’s gluten free) but I didn’t think this was a bad thing.

Ingredients: Soya drink (Water, Soya beans), Gluten free pasta (Rice flour, Corn flour), Sweet potato, Potato, Nutritional yeast, Vegan cheese alternative (Water, Coconut oil, Starch, Modified starch, Sea salt, Natural flavourings, Olive extract, Colour: B-Carotene, Vitamin B12), Peas, Miso (Water, Soya beans, Rice, Salt), Mustard, Lemon juice, Garlic powder, Cornflour, Rapeseed oil, Vegetable stock powder (Salt, Sugar, Yeast extracts, Dried vegetables: Onion, Leek, Carrot, Sunflower oil, Ground turmeric, Black pepper, Parsley), Black pepper, Nutmeg, Salt, Paprika, Chilli powder.

I would recommend trying both of these. Although they sound the same, they do have different flavours in them due to the veggies so get yourself one of each!

*Please note, with both this purchase & the purchase of Plantifull Food Co’s Three-Bean Chilli, I was not a Brand Ambassador at this point so purchased the products myself.
